Camilla Stacey is an artist, curator and facilitator based in Old Bank Studios, Penryn. For the last year and a half she has been running a project called MakeStuff/DrinkStuff offering a series of workshops where people can come together to learn new skills and share knowledge. These workshops are strongly based in the contemporary art/craft sector as that is where her own personal practice lies.
For Penryn Arts Festival Camilla will be researching and recording makers based within Penryn parish boundary and producing a handmade book that documents these makers. She will be using as many resources found within Penryn as possible, with input and assistance from residents to create the final book. The finished Penryn Makers Directory will be a ‘time capsule’ of Penryn in 2017, and for this reason it will be donated to Penryn Museum on completion, becoming part of their collection. This handmade edition will be supplemented with a digital version, and also an online skills inventory.
This workshop will offer the opportunity to use traditional techniques and upcycled materials to create handmade paper, some of which will be used to form the pages of the new Penryn Makers Directory.
Please wear old clothes and bring an apron if you have one- you will get wet!
This workshop will include tea & coffee and vegan cake. Suggested donation for workshop materials etc £5, payable on the night.
